Lower case commands in Machine Control Panel in Simplify3D
Not so much a question as a comment...
As I followed along with the PID Autotuning video, I could not get the control panel to accept the command line, even though I was typing them verbatim from the instructions. Turns out it would not accept lower case commands. Used caps and away we went.
A stupid little thing I know, but thought that others may want to know.
Hi Rob, welcome to the community! 🙂
You're right, on some firmwares (especially Marlin), gcodes only work if you send the commands in all-uppercase - so G1 X1 Y1 would work but g1 x1 y1 wouldn't.
This was actually fixed in one of the most recent builds of Marlin earlier this year. The configuration.h file now contains an entry called //#define GCODE_CASE_INSENSITIVE, which (as the name implies) will enable Marlin to interpret even lowercase gcodes.
Thanks for posting, and hope you found this little tidbit of info interesting 🙂
😀 thank you!
